Support Our Dharma Work

Organized by The Contemplative Monks of the Eightfold Path - Centre for Buddhist-Christian Service

We took a risk, because no one else would...
In early January, we took a huge risk, putting all of the funds we had into the start-up and training fees necessary to expand the Blue Lotus Mobile Spa & Wellness outreach to include nutritional counseling, weight loss, and yoga instruction.

Khenpo truly believed that we'd easily make back the $379 he put into the project from regular donations. Instead, we got $169.

We cancelled two of the training programs we were scheduled to take. And because Khenpo decided to do without some of the things most needed for his personal comfort and health, we're still going to be able to become self-sufficient, IF we can raise the $205 needed to make that happen.

We're operating under a deadline. And we hope that enough people out there appreciate the work he and our sangha do in the community enough to step up and make a difference.
Help Us Start 2012 Right
Because donations were scarce during the holiday season, Khenpo Gurudas Sunyatananda chose not to spend the money that was given to him for much needed dental work, and used that money to pay the rent and electric bill for the hermitage in December.

Unfortunately, on New Year's Day, two of the teeth in the back of Khenpo's mouth, as well as one filling on the other side, crumbled, causing him to dangerously choke on them in his sleep. Luckily, he managed to get the pieces dislodged from his throat, and will now have to have extensive dental surgery to correct the problem.

We'd like to rally to his support and ensure that his immediate expenses are covered this month, and would appreciate your financial support and dedication of merits from your sadhana for his recovery.

Many of his students posted on Facebook about how they spent Christmas and New Year's Eve partying with friends, exchanging gifts, drinking in the New Year, etc.

It saddens us that supporting the work of our teacher was not a higher priority for many of those people. There were no gifts exchanged at Sarvodaya House this year. There was no great holiday feasts, and we were not even able to afford to bring meals onto the streets on Christmas eve and Christmas day for the first time in SEVENTEEN YEARS.

Please do what you can.
